Forrest Life - An autonomous adventure
Forrest Life is a cozy life simulation built around one simple idea: what happens when a digital character is allowed to live his own life?
Your character has his own needs, routines, goals and priorities. He can decide when to eat, sleep, work, relax, go fishing, tend the garden, gather firewood, work in the garage, visit town or simply spend a quiet evening at home.
The world continues to change around him through seasons, weather, day and night cycles, wildlife and a persistent economy.
You can simply sit back and watch his life unfold in Autonomous Mode, or interact with the world yourself using the optional Direct Control system. Click on beds, furniture, workbenches, the garden, the pickup, fishing spots and other objects to give him specific tasks. He will still walk there using the normal pathfinding system and perform the same activities he would choose autonomously.
Features currently include:
- Autonomous AI behaviour
- Optional Sims-style Direct Control
- Needs such as energy, hunger, thirst, hygiene and bladder
- Day/night cycle
- Four seasons
- Dynamic weather
- Farming and gardening
- Fishing
- Forestry and firewood

- Garage and vehicle maintenance
- Town visits
- Economy and recurring bills
- Skills and statistics

If AI makes you uncomfortable, this forest probably isn’t for you.
---------------------
What started as an AI test somehow turned into a game. The plan was simple: make a character that could take care of itself. It now eats, sleeps, works, gets distracted, makes questionable decisions, and occasionally proves that “self-maintaining” was a very optimistic description.
